GGI has conducted numerous investigations focusing on evaluation of the soil stratigraphic context of archaeological sites to provide information on temporal context, site integrity, and correlations between sites. (Mesa top geoarchaeology publication)

Geoarchaeology Investigations, Los Alamos National Laboratory

GGI worked in conjunction with LANL scientists to produce detailed geomorphic mapping and soil stratigraphic descriptions to evaluate the geomorphic setting, site context and integrity of archaeological sites in Los Alamos National Laboratory land conveyance parcels and in Valles Caldera National Preserve. Stratigraphic context was developed for comparison of relative site ages and GGI staff worked closely with project archaeologists to determine depth of archaeological sterile strata.

Petroglyph National Monument, Albuquerque, NM (2005)

Geomorphic studies were conducted by GGI in support of archaeological investigations preceding possible construction of a westward extension of Paseo del Norte by the City of Albuquerque. The investigation included descriptions of surficial geologic units and completion of soil-stratigraphic descriptions to help define the geomorphic context and temporal relationship of archaeological sites.

Valles Caldera National Preserve, NM (2007)

Geomorphic studies, in collaboration with Dr. Steven Reneau, were conducted in support of archaeological investigations of an extensive lithic scatter encompassing an area of 86 acres in the Valles Caldera. The investigation included numerous soil-stratigraphic descriptions and construction of measured topographic profiles to evaluate the geomorphic context and processes affecting site integrity, and to evaluate the temporal context of the site.
