Santa Fe Canyon Ranch Water Availability and Water Rights Administration
The Santa Fe Canyon Ranch covers an area of 1316 acres in Santa Fe County and encompasses part of the discharge area for the Ancha Formation aquifer. The Ancha Formation discharges water in several springs and seeps that contribute flow to the Santa Fe River.
Pumping tests were conducted on four on-site wells and discharge from two on-site springs was measured. The property was also mapped in detail to determine the extent of the saturated Ancha Formation and geologic controls on springs and seeps.
The water availability, groundwater drawdown and surface water depletions were modeled to predict future conditions after the property was developed as a 174 lot subdivision.
