Groundwater / Surface Water Interaction and Modeling
Virtually all water that is stored in aquifers has some hydrologic connection to surface water sources or sinks. This hydrologic connection is very important in determining how water rights are administrered and the best management of water resources.
Groundwater models include estimates of the groundwater to surface water connection and will calculate surface water depletions due to ground water pumping.
Selected Projects :
1. Santa Fe Canyon Ranch
2. Red River Pass Water Availability

Field evaluation of spring discharge along Alamo creek

Model grid with surface water features
Model generated drawdown contours showing predicted ground water drawdown after 100 years of subdivision pumping

Evaluation of groundwater, surface water interaction along Alamo Cr.

Model grid of predicted draw down from wells completed into fractured crystalline rocks. The model is also used to predict depletion effects on Moreno Cr.
